1.Who are VSC?

The Video Standards Council is an administrator of the PEGI system of age rating for video games. It was established in 1989, and has been responsible for the age ratings of video games sold in the UK since 2012. 

2.What do they do?

Rate video games on a PEGI scale from age 3-18

3.What is their relationship with PEGI?

VSC uses PEGI age ratings to rate their video games.


4.What is the process of examining a game?

Details are provided by the designer of what the game contains, it is given a rough rating. The game is provided by the designer to VSC in which they play the game and give it an official rating using the PEGI scale.

5.How do they ensure child safety?

They offer parental controls to be turned on and off.







What constitutes to an age rating of 16?


At the 16 level you can expect to see more mature and realistic violence against human characters. The game may deal heavily with death and injury to humans. 
Sexual activity can be shown but it must not include visible genitals. Depictions of erotic nudity may feature.

The worst forms of bad language can be heard and will often include sexual expletives.
The use of tobacco and alcohol may be encouraged, and the game can feature the use of illegal drugs. The game could glamorise crime.
