Codes and conventions VISUAL ELEMENTS: mise-en-scene, cinematography	The facial expressions and body language of the characters in the main poster campaign suggest panic as they are running away from danger. This conveys the action-adventure genre. The use of marvel characters who are superhero characters creates as sense of action and adventure as they may be there to save the day.	There is a clear difference between heroic protagonists and villainous antagonists – (Lego movie trailer- Lord business and emmet).
Hybridity	President Business's facial expression on his close-up poster suggests he is a villainous character, which is a convention of the action-adventure genre. In contrast, some characters on the main poster convey elements of the comedy genre such as Unikitty, demonstrated by her out of place character amongst’ heroes’. This reflects genre hybridity. The shocked/ worried expression on Emmets face shows the comical genre as it presents the hero character of incapable and unable to save the day.	Romanticism from the b.t broadband compared to the fast pace editing with the lego movie advert shows the action and adventure genre.

Explain how The Lego Movie is an example of genre hybridity. (5)

The lego movie is an example of genre hybridity through the poster of Emmet. In Emmets individual poster his worried facial expression- is a sign of the comedy genre. Being portrayed as the hero emmets face contradicts this and his shocked face is comical, as the hero seems unable to save the day. Emmets poster also expresses a sense of action due to the red sparks that are flying around behind him- which could be what he is running away from.

Furthermore in virtruviuos' poster there is a key theme of fantasy through the flying dragon in the background, which removes the sense of realism from the movie. In addition to this, his white eyes also connote magic and fantasy, which intrigue younger audiences into watching the film.
