Social and Cultural

How did the film industry reflect the society in 2014 when it was produced.

How did it reflect the target audience?
Distribution/circulation/target audience access?

With Warner Bros big budget allowed a lot of money was spent on advertising compared to most other productions. Posters and billboards were made, and the movie paired up with many companies such as the 'NHS' and 'cofnused.com to create ad breaks to celebrate the release of the new movie. Although most of the advertising was targetted at primary audiences, billboards were targetted at the movies secondary audiences as they are of driving age, and all ads shown after the watershed was further targetted at the movies secondary audience. Advertising and marketing campaign was also accessible on social media & as pop up ads. This is something that reflects the 2014 industry.

Cultural context- how did the film industry reflect the arts and culture, including the popular culture of their time?

Within the Lego Movie, producers used the theme of generations to enable the film to appeal to all ages of secondary audiences. They used classic Lego blocks which have been around since 1934 and through the use of lego parents and grandparents were able to reminisce on the times that they played with lego, whilst the primary target audience could identify with the lego characters- as they can be purchased. This further exposed them to new ideas and creations that they can do with lego, and are inspired to view lego in a whole different way due to the movie.

Nice discussion about advertising - You could push this further by mentioning that the advertising and marketing campaign was also accessible on social media & as pop up ads. This is something that reflects the 2014 industry.
Also, don't forget about the film's 3D availability. This is something that really reflects the film industry.

    Please amend as mentioned above.
